DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
​
Day 1: Nairobi
Arrival at the Airport and transferred to your hotel. Dinner and Overnight in a Nairobi hotel.
Day 2: Nairobi – Mt Kenya
Leaving from Nairobi, we will have an early start to our birding safari, and head North towards Mt. Kenya. After checking into the hotel, we will bird near the local bush and forest edge and then head deeper into the mountain forest in search of the forest species, passing through rivers and grasslands in search of the montane specials all day. Some mammals we might see here are Blue monkeys and duikers. We shall have dinner stay the night at Mt. Kenya.
Day 3: Mt Kenya - Samburu
After an early morning breakfast we shall then head further North for Samburu National Reserve. The Semi-arid environment of Samburu shall give us many more species for our list. There is also unique northern wildlife which are not found in any other parts south of the equator, here you will find the Grevy zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich. After lunch the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River will be explored, it attracts a great number of birds and animals to this dry region. Overnight stay and dinner will be at the lodge.
Day 4: Samburu - Lake Nakuru
After an early breakfast we will drive south to Nakuru National Park. The park has more than 450 species of birds recorded here, and it is a RAMSAR protected wetland, here we will expect to see lots of pelicans, flamingoes and other waterfowl. After Lunch we shall head for a half day tour around the park. Dinner & overnight stay will be at the Lodge
Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Lake Bogoria- Baringo
After breakfast, we proceed to the jewel of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Bogoria. Described as the "Most beautiful view in Africa" by Bishop Hannington, the lake is well known for its Hot springs and geysers, which are spread out along its southern shores. Here we will enjoy an extensive full day bird walk around the lake and the lodge area, here we expect to find a variety of dry country and alkaline lake species. We shall head for Baringo Hotel in the evening. Our dinner and overnight will be at Baringo Hotel.
Day 6: Lake Baringo
After breakfast we shall start birding around Lake Baringo, which is one of the leading ornithology lakes in East Africa, more than 470 bird species call this area home. After lunch we shall take a boat ride on the lake and go through the nesting site of hundreds of cormorants and egrets, which will be the highlight of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Baringo Hotel
Day 7: Lake Baringo - Saiwa Swamp
Day 7 will see our birding safari depart Lake Baringo and drive towards Saiwa Swamp National Park in Kitale, it is the only Park in Kenya enjoyed exclusively on foot and birding landmark. Lunch will be served in Hotel at Kitale Town before afternoon bird walk. Dinner and overnight stay at a Hotel at Kitale Town
Day 8: Saiwa Swamp - Kakamega Forest.
After an early morning breakfast we will leave for Kakamega Forest, it is a living remnant of the original equatorial rainforest, which once extended from Guinea in the west, to East and Central Africa for a fulfilling and eventful day of bird watching in this only & unique remaining rain forest with some of very rare and spectacular bird species. We shall start birding as soon as we reach, have lunch at the Hotel and head out again in search of more! Dinner and overnight stay will be at Kakamega Hotel .
Day 9: Kakamega Forest - Lake Victoria
We shall start early and enjoy a full second day of birding at kakamega forest, and add some of the elusive species that we might have missed the previous day. We shall head for kisumu late in the evening, then have dinner and overnight stay at Kisumu Hotel.
Day 10: Lake Victoria
We shall leave the hotel early targeting the swamps along the lake. The water here is fresh with lots of life and the local farmland will be our major target. We expect many wetland and marsh species. As well as many species that have a range extension form Uganda. After lunch we will have a boat ride to access more of the lake in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Kisumu Hotel.

Day 11: Kisumu - Lake Naivasha.
Today after an early breakfast, our safari will be destined for Lake Naivasha, the only freshwater lake in the Rift Valley. The lake is home to a large colony of hippos and it's also a paradise for bird watchers and researchers, with over 400 different species of birds recorded here. After lunch we shall have an afternoon boat ride. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Lake Naivasha Hotel.
Day 12: Lake Naivasha - Hell's Gate.
After breakfast, a morning bird walk with the aim of viewing birds on the shores of the Lake with a few hours of relaxation before lunch. Afternoon visit to Hell's Gate National Park, which is a nesting site for endangered vultures. Dinner & overnight tonight will be served at Lake Naivasha Country Club.
Day 13: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara
Today our safari expedition will take us to the jewel of Kenya's parks, the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. This is Kenya's number one park and is always on every bird watcher's and wildlife tourists "Must see list". Masai Mara is home to the "Big Five" (Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) and over 450 bird species, many of which have a range extension from Tanzania. Apart from the big five, the Masai Mara is most famous for the spectacular annual migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra, gazelle etc from the Serengeti in northern Tanzania crossing the Mara River into Kenya. Dinner & overnight tonight will be served at the lodge.
Day 14 : Masai Mara - Nairobi
An early morning birding/game drive after breakfast will be our perfect start of another unforgettable and memorable birding day in Africa. We shall leave Masai Mara after lunch and head for Nairobi
Day 15: Nairobi.
Nairobi National Park
After breakfast we proceed to the Nairobi National Park and spend the whole day birding there, which despite being only a few kilometers from the city, is home to almost 500 species of birds. In its open grasslands scattered with acacia trees we will see many savannah species of birds, and also visit many of the water pools and wetlands to search for water birds. We will also see wildlife like Lions, Rhino, Zebras, Giraffes and other small mammals. Overnight stay and dinner at the hotel in Nairobi.
Day 16: Nairobi - Amboseli.
After an early morning breakfast we proceeding to Amboseli, it is beautifully situated beneath the foot of Africa's highest mountain Mt. Kilimanjaro, the park is well renowned for its beautiful landscapes, huge herds of elephants and various types of other Savannah wildlife. We will have the opportunity to look for over 425 species of birds which have been recorded. We will spend the whole day birding, stopping briefly for lunch, before heading back for dinner later in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.
Day 17: Amboseli - Tsavo West
After breakfast, enjoy a full morning drive around the park the heading for Tsavo West after lunch with an en route birding as we reach our lodge in the evening. The park is also famous for the autumn bird ringing at the Ngulia Safari Lodge with thousands of European and Asian Palearctic migrants on their way south. Overnight at Ngulia Safari Lodge.

Day 18: Tsavo West National Park
We shall spend the whole day birding in the park after breakfast, as the day progresses, we shall scan around lake jipe for more water birds and the near endemic Taveta golden weaver. Here we will be able to see some of the BIG 5 and also African wild dogs. Overnight at Taita hills Lodge.
Day 19: Tsavo West National Park- Taita Hills Forest- Voi
We shall leave very early for taita hills forest where we hope to see the highly endangered taita endemics. Overnight stay and dinner at Voi.
Day 20: Voi – Tsavo East National park - Malindi
After breakfast we shall enter Tsavo East and start our birding, as we head towards the Galana river. We shall have our packed lunch at the river and make our way to malindi. The coastal Swahili town of malindi is an amazing mix of cultural influence. Overnight and dinner in Malindi.
Day 21: Malindi – Dakatcha– Galana estuary
We shall leave early after breakfast for dakatcha crossing the galana river to reach dakatcha, the only known breeding site of the endemic Clarke's weaver, we shall scan more of the area looking for other coatal species that we may come across. After lunch we shall head to the sabaki estuary, which is an important feeding and roosting area for many migrant and resident sea birds. We shall head back to malindi for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 22 Malindi - Arabuko Sokoke Forest - Watamu
After an early morning breakfast, proceed with our safari to Arabuko-sokoke forest. Arabuko-sokoke has three types habitats namely; Mixed forest, Brachystegia woodland and Cynometra forest . Here we target species likes Sokoke scopes owl, Sokoke Pipit, Amani sunbird, and many other globally threaten species that only occurs in this forest. We shall check into a beach hotel for lunch and head back for an afternoon walk around the forest. Dinner and overnight stay will be at beach hotel.
Day 23: Arabuko sokoke and Mida Creek
After breakfast, it will be another very early morning walk in the forest to look for any species we might have missed out on the previous day. We shall have Lunch at a Local restaurant and enjoy the local seafood cuisine. After a scrumptious lunch we will tour mida creek which is well known for attracting large numbers of wading birds like crab plovers and many species of plovers and sandpipers. Dinner and overnight will be served at beach hotel.
Day 24: Malindi- Nairobi
